Added a large chunk of text to the mapping guidelines, basically starting the first 30-50% of the mapping checklist.

Added another large chunk of stuff to the mapping guidelines. If you're aiming to do a high quality map, particularly with the interests of it becoming an official map, you should really keep an eye on the article, as it goes over a lot of what a good map should cover.

help. i put the foliage into s2/game/world/...
(had to create this folder, /world and co )

but i still got no foliage to use while in editor

is the version for download on the site still a version where the map editor is fully funcitonal?

1.5.1 should be. I don't believe we've changed anything with that download. The new 1.7.3 installer doesn't have a fully functional map editor.

No limit that I'm aware of, although if there is one, you'll be able to create a map that performs terribly and nobody wants to play on long before you hit any sort of object limit.

small question, well a few
any key combinations to undo an action ya did in the editor? (ctrl z dindt work when i tried it atleast and didnt see an undo button, even tho its probably there)
even tho its probably still above what i can do (as its my first s2 map, i did map for source games tho for a long while) caves, i was planning to let beasts start in a volcanic-ish cave (flowing lava, bridges etc) are caves like i want viable? or well it just a dream?

ahhh and a last, dimensions of the map, roughly what size should i be shooting for distances between strongholds etc
and is 1.5.1 still recommended? (as i cant find any link with it (most are updated or well weird)

There is no undo feature.

There is no cave option, however it is possible to place objects in such a way as to simulate a cave/tunnel roof. I'd recommend using as few objects as possible though, as stacking up a bunch of objects to have a cave roof and THEN placing objects in the cave could result in a big performance hit.

1.5.1 is still recommended.

8x64, with enough of a mountain border to where it looks natural. Either that or an 8x64 map in the center of a 9x64 map file (mostly mountain border area). Have a look at deadlock or eden for an example.
