Default Domination

New Stuff !!

Just released new version:
- added game rules text at loading
- added UI stuff
- added new effects to the flags
- legos and preds cost 600 gold (up from 400)

With these changes I don't know what else to do for the mod...
I need ideas on how to make it better and more polished !

This game mode is similar to UT's and COD4's Domination, there are several flags scattered around the map, to capture them all you have to do is stay inside the circle drawn on the ground.
Each team starts with a fix number of tickets (500 by default) and every 10 seconds, for each flag you own, the enemy team loses 1 ticket. When the ticket count of a team reaches 0 that team loses (draws are still not working :P).


The map is going to be hosted at eaxs' S2howto.com server.

I don't quite understand this mod. Is it capture and defend control points like in battlefield or is it more like king of the hill?

It's like Domination game mode from UT :P
Several points around the map, you have to capture them to earn points. The team with most points after X time wins the game !

Amazing ! Cant wait to test it myself. I woude not let the hellbourne in the mod, I like the idea about the tech and those points ,, about the control points well.. i have no clue.

When testing a similar type of mod for Warcraft 3, I had found that it was generally easier to have the desired, focused gameplay by requiring all points to be captured. However, in order to make that work I had to have prerequisite points so that players had to progress from point to point (in a semi- tug of war). There were a couple of spots where players had a choice of which point to go to next, but all points at each area had to be taken to move on.

I honestly don't like the prerequisite idea Merc. First because it's confusing (how are players going to know which point to capture next ?) but also because it takes away the "freedom" Savage 2 offers by making it a simple tug-o-war like you said.

I really liked Petzi's idea, each control point represented a building (one for nexus/armory, another for sanctuary/monastery and another for predator/academy), when you control the point you gain acess to what it offers, obiously only one team can control a point at a time. Maybe also having some garrison/sublair control point around the map where you can spawn.
I think this gameplay really gives a very personal twist to the regular gameplay ! The objective could even be the normal "destroy the enemy main building", your team gained for each control point captured maybe ?

Either way, any ideas and suggestions are more than welcome !

Another mode to consider would be the attacker-defender model. Rather than both teams starting at zero points, one team starts with no capture points and has to push across the map, gaining ground by capturing points, and the other team needs to hold them off for a certain time. It's kind of like the TF2 Hydro map, but when I was thinking of it I always pictured Minas Tirith from LotR, with capturing the different rings of the city and then breaking through to the next.

Looks like a fun mod, now if only I could manage to log in when there's other people interested in playing something other than vanilla S2...
